Hear animal sounds, stories
The Wood County District Public Library Children’s Place is offering a Saturday storytime for babies and
toddlers with caregivers.
Animal Sounds storytime at 10:30 a.m. will also feature tips from the early literacy initiative Every
Child Ready to Read @ Your Library. This early literacy initiative encourages parents and caregivers to
read, talk, sing, write and play with young children every day.
Children’s Place staff will share animal stories, a craft, songs, conversation and play. For more

Egg-stravaganza is Saturday
The 5th Annual Community Easter Egg-stravaganza is Saturday at Plain Congregational Church, 16011 W. Poe
Road.
From 1-3 p.m. there will be crafts and an egg hunt. There will be three age groups: 1-4 years, 5-8 years
and 9-12 years. This is a free event.
Kids can make historic crafts at Second Saturdays R 4 Kids
FREMONT — Kids can make crafts and recipes from the 19th century during Second Saturdays R 4 Kids on
Saturday at the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library & Museums.
Kids will learn about First Lady Lucy Hayes and her experiences at home. Museum educators will work with
kids to create crafts and recipes.
Cost for kids is $1. There is no charge for adults to bring kids to this program.

Saturdays R 4 Kids is an interactive, educational series for kids through age 12.
El Día de los Niños celebrates books and Latino culture
The Children’s Place of the Wood County District Public Library is partnering with La Conexión for an
annual celebration of El Día de los Niños/El Día de los Libros, Children’s Day/Book Day on Sunday at 2
p.m.
“Salsa,” by Jorge Argueta and illustrated by Duncan Tonatiuh will be shared in a bilingual storytime.
Guest readers will be Joselyn Armas, Christian Campos Jimenez, Jonathan Ortega and Ivan Ortega.
“Salsa” blends tradition and imagination as two siblings gather ingredients together to make the salsa
their ancestors made. They sing and dance together as they imagine each ingredient as an instrument in
an orchestra.
Cecilia Jimenez from LaConexion will demonstrate making salsa with a tasting for everyone. Salsa dancing
will be led by guests Shanaia Celis, Kayla Guerrero and Rosianet Orozco Marcelo.
April 30 is an annual celebration of El Día de los Niños/ El Día de los Libros,
Children’s Day/Book Day is an American Library Association initiative emphasizing the importance of
connecting all children from all backgrounds with library materials in many languages and about many
cultures. La Conexión is a welcoming resource of unity and representation for the Latino/a community of
Wood and surrounding counties in Ohio.

Hunt for eggs at Dayspring
An Easter egg hunt will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. at Dayspring Church, 17360 N. Dixie Hwy.
Children ages 2-11 are welcome to attend. Prizes include bikes, scooters and tablets, and participants
must be present to win.

Easter egg hunt planned
RISINGSUN — First Church of God, 7968 U.S. 23, will hold a Community Easter Egg Hunt for all are youth in
pre-school through sixth grade on Sunday from 1-3 p.m. at the church. Youth should bring their baskets
and wear play clothes. Refreshments will be served after the hunt.
Library Story to Screen Book Group to discuss ‘Shrek’
The Children’s Place of the Wood County District Public Library’s Story to Screen Book Group will meet
Monday at 7 p.m. to discuss “Shrek” by William Steig and watch clips from the animated movie and
Broadway musical.
Popcorn will be served. Cast members from the Bowling Green High School Drama Club production of “Shrek
the Musical” will talk about the story originally published as a picture book in 1990, and the way they
are bringing it to life.

Spring into an adventure
PERRYSBURG — An Afternoon Adventure focused on birds nests will be held Monday from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at Way
Public Library, 101 E. Indiana Ave. Children ages 5-7 years old will be introduced to the homes of
birds. Discuss why nests are important, how they are made, and create a own nest to take home.
Spotlight on ‘Knuffle Bunny’
PERRYSBURG — Tuesday’s Storybook Spotlight at Way Public Library, 101 E. Indiana Ave., will be held from
4-5 p.m. for children ages 5-7. Join in for a celebration of “Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale” by Mo
Willems. There will be games, crafts and snacks.
Build with Legos at Way
PERRYSBURG — Lego League will be held April 13 from 4-5 p.m. at the Way Public Library, 101 E. Indiana
Ave.
Lego builders, ages 7-10 years old, are invited.
