MILLBURY — Lake High School is preparing Rodgers and Hammer-stein’s “South Pacific,” a musical about an
island in the South Pacific during World War II.
A young woman named Nellie meets and falls in love with a middle-aged Frenchman, named Emile De Becque.
While that is happening, a young American soldier, Lt. Cable, is on a mission to land on a Japanese-held
island and report on Japanese ship movements.
Bloody Mary, one of the islanders, informs us of the “mysterious” Bali Ha’i, an exotic yet off-limits
paradise, where she introduces Cable to a beautiful woman.
Adapted from the Pulitzer Prize winning novel “Tales of the South Pacific,” Rodgers and Hammerstein’s
“South Pacific” is a heartfelt, romantic and thrilling musical.
The cast includes Alyx Fisher as Ensign Nellie Forbush, Ryan Walsh as Emile de Becque, Parker Lake as Lt.
Joseph Cable, Rick Hodgson as Luther Billis, Bryce Riddle as Bloody Mary,  Kendyl Saffran as Liat and
Jenae Fisher as Ngana and Blake Salley as Jerome.
Music was written by Richard Rodgers and the book by Oscar Hammerstein II and Joshua Logan. Hits include
“Some Enchanted Evening” and “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair.”
The show starts tonight and continues Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. in the
auditorium of Lake High School.
Tickets will be available at the door, although all seats are reserved. They are $6 for students and
