Phyllis Jean Hoose Pekar, age 86, of Edgewater, FL, passed away on Saturday, February 18 at home.
Phyllis was born on May 12, 1930, at home near Wayne, OH to the late Eugene E. and Maggie E. (Wensel)
Tefft. She married Allen Nelson Hoose on September 26, 1952, and he preceded her in death in 1991. She
married Donald Wayne Pekar on October 19, 1996; he survives.
Phyllis was a 1948 graduate of Portage High School and worked at Bank of Wood County in downtown Bowling
Green after graduation. While raising her family in Van Wert, OH, she enjoyed attending her children’s
sporting and band events. She also worked part-time at Van Wert National Bank.
In the mid 1990s she moved to Florida, where she enjoyed the sunshine and antiquing.
Phyllis is survived by son, David A. (Nancy) Hoose of Bowling Green, OH; daughters, Deborah K. Lindhorst
of Fort Walton Beach, FL and Nancy J. (Brian) Shiphorst of Navarre, FL; six grandchildren; five
great-grandchildren; and sibling, Travis (Mary) Tefft of Port Orange, FL.
Along with her parents and first husband, Phyllis was preceded in death by two siblings, Bernarr Tefft
and Margie Gilman.
A celebration of life service will be held by the family at a later date.
