A Norwalk man accused in a deadly Lake Township bar fight last year pleaded guilty to amended charges in
Wood County court last week.
The case of Kevin W. Knott, 52, was before Judge Matt Reger on Jan. 25.
A trial in the case had been set to begin Tuesday in Wood County Court of Common Pleas.
Knott was indicted last year on one count of involuntary manslaughter and one count of felonious assault
in the death of Elwood Lock Jr., 37, following an altercation at Country Ridge Lounge, 3491 Latcha Road,
on Jan. 7, 2016.
According to bind over papers from Perrysburg Municipal Court, Knott allegedly struck Lock in the face
with a closed fist “causing him to fall unconscious, creating major trauma to his head and face.”
Lock would later die on Jan. 13, 2016.
In court on Jan. 25, Knott pleaded guilty to the amended charge of reckless homicide.
A presentence investigation was ordered in the case, and the matter is scheduled for sentencing on March
10 at 2:30 p.m.
Knott’s son, Kevin E. Knott, 26, Norwalk, was sentenced to one year in prison in December after pleading
guilty to aggravated assault in another fight at the scene, which was not connected to his father’s
altercation.
According to Perrysburg court papers, the younger Knott reportedly struck his victim twice in the face
with a closed fist, lacerating and breaking his nose. The victim was taken to a hospital and released.
