Rossford schools move forward with renewal levies

ROSSFORD — Members of the Rossford board of education unanimously passed the first measures to place two
renewal levies on the May primary ballot.
The resolutions passed last week declared the intent to proceed to the election on the levies.
According to Superintendent Dan Creps, the Rossford Exempted Village Schools depend on these two levies
for about 25 percent of its operating budget.
“These levies are renewals and will not cost the taxpayers any additional money,” Creps said.
The levies are 7.9 mills each and collectively generate roughly $6 million for the district each year.

The first one was first approved in 1992, with the second following in 2002. They are each required to be
renewed every five years.
“These are independent of the bond issues and are absolutely critical for our district,” Creps said.
Creps also noted the board will be seeking qualifications to be filed for the firms seeking to named the
“manager at risk” for the upcoming building renovation and construction of the school facilities. After
all the qualification submissions have been received, within 30 days the board committee will narrow the
field to the top three.
In other action the board:
• Welcomed a group of foreign exchange students from China who are staying with host families in
Rossford.
• Heard a request by the Rossford Junior High/High School choirs for a class trip to a music festival at
Kalahari Resorts near Sandusky.
• Met in executive session regarding personnel employment with no action taken.
