Saline Fiddlers Philharmonic on stage in Pemberville
PEMBERVILLE — The Saline Fiddlers Philharmonic will perform as part of the Live! In The House Concert
Series on Feb. 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the opera house.
Tickets are $12 and are available for Beeker’s General Store, at the door or by calling 419-287-4848,
emailing [email protected] or visiting  www.pembervilleoperahouse.org.
Saline Fiddlers Philharmonic, America’s premier youth fiddling show band from Saline, Michigan, will take
the stage. The musicians, all from Saline High School, present an energetic show that features a diverse
range of music from American folk, fiddle, bluegrass, jazz, western swing and Celtic traditions.
Saline Fiddlers Philharmonic began in 1994 with one idea: introduce an alternative style of music
education to public school students to maintain and expand their interest in music performance.
Working alongside the Saline Fiddlers Philharmonic artistic team, the students help plan shows, craft
arrangements and make organizational decisions. This collaborative ownership gives the group a creative
edge and enthusiasm that is visible in their performances.
The members are selected through competitive auditions based on musical talent and personal maturity.
They balance academics, sports, school organizations, church activities, jobs and social lives with the
demanding commitment to music that is required for participation in the group.
The group has performed three times at the White House and twice on the Millennium Stage at the Kennedy
Center, as well as at a State of Michigan’s Presidential Inaugural Ball. Annual summer tours have
spanned the United States, and have also included performances in Canada and tours in Europe, including
visits to Saline’s sister cities of Brecon, Wales and Lindenberg, Germany. Each year the group performs
50-60 times, generally donating a third of their annual schedule to community service events.
A pre-show dinner to benefit the Opera House Elevator Fund will be held at Higher Grounds Coffee Shop,
222 E. Front St., from 5-7 p.m. It includes cabbage roll, mashed potatoes, buttered noodles, choice of
salads and beverage for $9.95.
To pre-order cabbage rolls at three $10, to be picked up anytime that day, call 419-287-3274.
