Does university even have the power to become ‘sanctuary campus?’

To the Editor:
I happened to be in my hometown of Bowling Green and stopped into the local coffee shop to pick up the
Sentinel-Tribune. After reading the front page of the Jan. 13 edition, I am wondering where the
university gets the power to become a “sanctuary campus.”
After reading that they wanted to implement this before Donald Trump officially becomes president, I
wondered why we have to have undocumented people here in the United States.
Why is a state university trying to keep these undocumented people here? Well, that is an answer that
only they can justify at the university level. I am not totally sure of the rationale of keeping the
undocumented, but I am not in favor of filling up the classrooms and campus jobs that documented or
natural citizens could have access to.
Maybe if universities did not have the support of the state, they wouldn’t be so quick to take in the
undocumented. A little research is in order for the general population on this subject.
