Eastwood musicians picked for OMEA music programs
PEMBERVILLE — Eastwood High School students have been selected for the Ohio Music Education Association
District I Band and Choir programs.
The following students will participate in this year’s event to be held Feb. 12 at the Stranahan Theater:

Honor Band: Amanda Withrow, Jacob Booms, JaeEun Schermerhorn (alternate)
Honor Choir: Holden Ruck, Catherine Wasylyshyn, JaeEun Schermerhorn
Rossford chess team readies for Beach Chess Tournament
ROSSFORD — The Rossford High School Chess Team is practicing for the annual Beach Chess Tournament.
Players will compete against students from the Greater Toledo Area High School Chess League. elementary
through high school players will compete at Rossford High School on Saturday and Sunday.

Also, the RHS Chess Team is currently in third place in the Greater Toledo Area High School Chess League
for the second year in a row. The group will compete against St. Francis, St. John’s, and Jones
Leadership Academy for the High School League Championship (which begin Jan. 18).
Free homework help offered at district public library
Trained tutors from BGSU Martha Gesling Weber Reading Center are resuming free homework help and
read-aloud support at the Children’s Place of the Wood County District Public Library again this
Tuesday.
The America Reads program is available for students K-5th grade on Mondays through Thursdays between 6
p.m. and 8 p.m.
Tutor sessions average 30 minutes. Students can drop in anytime during the scheduled sessions to
register.
Parents and caregivers are expected to stay in the library building during tutoring sessions.
