Fix the bad parts of Obamacare, but don’t do away with the whole act

To the Editor:
As Congress begins to dismantle the Affordable Care Act, we must recognize how Ohioans have benefited
from this policy (statistics from the Department of Health and Human Services):
• The uninsured rate in Ohio dropped by 47 percent since 2010
• 4,154,000 Ohioans no longer have a lifetime spending limit on their insurance coverage
• Up to 5,053,131 people in Ohio with a pre-existing health condition are no longer refused insurance
because of those health issues
• An estimated 81,000 young Ohioans can remain on parents’ health insurance until age 26
• Ohio seniors saved $259 million on drugs in 2015, an average of $1,090 per beneficiary
• 381,000 Ohioans gained insurance through the expansion of Medicaid
Call Congress and demand that these improvements not be taken away. Fix what is broken but keep what
works.
