PEMBERVILLE — The Live In the House Concert Series continues on Saturday with Silent Movie Night.
“Safety Last,” starring Harold Lloyd with piano accompaniment by Lynne Long, will start at 7:30 p.m. in
the Pemberville Opera House.
The comic genius of silent star Lloyd is eternal. With its torrent of perfectly executed gags and
astonishing stunts, “Safety Last” is the perfect introduction to him. Lloyd plays a small-town bumpkin
trying to make it in the big city, who finds employment as a lowly department-store clerk.
He comes up with a wild publicity stunt to draw attention to the store, resulting in an incredible feat
of derring-do on his part that gets him started on the climb to success.
Tickets are $12 and are available at Beeker’s General Store, at the door or by contacting Carol Bailey at
419-287-4848 or [email protected]. For more information visit

Long lives in Grand Rapids. A cum laude graduate of Bowling Green State University in piano performance,
she has maintained a private piano studio in her home since the early 1970s and currently teaches 30
students.
She is a long-time member of the Ohio Music Teachers Association, and now serves as secretary of the
Wood-Ottawa chapter. She holds a Permanent Professional Certificate from OMTA.
Long is a charter member of the Grand Rapids Arts Council, and serves as president. She is a board member
of the Grand Rapids Historical Society, and coordinates the summer outdoor musical series, “Rhythm on
the River.”
She performs in churches and presents programs that range from classical to ragtime in a variety of
venues, and enjoys being a collaborative pianist at BGSU. She has produced two CD’s and plans to record
a third CD entitled “Too Wild for Worship.”
To benefit the opera house elevator fund, the historical society will host a pre-show Pot Roast Dinner at
Higher Grounds, with serving from 5-7 p.m.
On the menu is beef, potatoes, carrots, salad and choice of beverage. The cost is $10.
