Tickets going on sale for salute to veterans
Tickets for the Bowling Green Area Community Band’s Salute to Veterans concert go on sale Sunday.
The tickets for the May 21 show are $10 at Grounds for Thought, 174 S. Main St., Bowling Green. The
concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. and feature both the community band and the BiG Band BG .
Special guests include the Voices of Harmony barbershop choir.
All seating is reserved for this concert, held in the Lenhart Grand Ballroom, Bowen-Thompson Student
Union, on the campus of Bowling Green State University. Tickets will remain on sale until noon of the
concert day. No tickets will be available at the door.

Piano recital presents ‘Music Around the World’
GRAND RAPIDS – "Music Around the World" is the theme for the annual piano recital presented by
the students of Lynne E. Long Sunday at 3 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church.   
Students will play selections from a number of different countries.  
Students performing will be: Nathaniel Born, Ava Bowen, Abby Eberly, Kaylee Eberly, Jacob Fritz, Ella
Hartman, Elijah Hergert, Joshua Hergert, Naomi Hergert, Ruth Hergert, Gabriella Hoag, Jason Hoag,
Bethany Horen, Jason Jones, Zach Jones, Alexander Landgraf, Christian Morgan, Micha Shank, Brooke Simon,
Kendal Simon, Morgan Simon, Carsyn Tussing, Olivia Weaver, Aaron Yaney, and Moira Yaney.   Nathaniel
Born, Alexander Landgraf, Micha Shank, and Moira Yaney will receive their five-year recital trophies and
Jacob Fritz will receive his 10-year recital award.
A reception will follow the recital.
Paintings of classic cars on exhibit in Perrysburg
PERRYSBURG – "The Wow Factor: Classic Car Paintings by Ted McLaren" is on exhibit -Perrysburg
Municipal Building, 201 W. Indiana Ave. through June 15 during business hours.
The show includes 21 large scale paintings of the signature elements of classic cars. McLaren’s car
series has been recognized with numerous prestigious awards and has been shown nationwide including at
Harrah’s National Car Museum, Las Vegas, Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum, Auburn, Indiana, David Streets
Gallery, Beverly Hills, California, and The Henry Ford Museum, Dearborn, Michigan.

Art at Levis reflects Vietnam vet’s perspective
PERRYSBURG – "Thru the Lens of a Vietnam Veteran," an exhibit of photographs by David Ridenour,
are now on exhibit at Starbucks, 3145 Levis Commons Blvd.  
Sponsored by PRIZM Creative Community the show includes  fine art photography of landscapes from a recent
return journey to Vietnam by the Bowling Green photographer and other  locations in North America and
England.
BGSU choir to sing at Maumee Presbyterian
MAUMEE – The A Cappella Choir of Bowling Green State University will perform a program of sacred and
secular choral music at the First Presbyterian Church of Maumee May 14 at 7 p.m.
The sacred portion of the program will feature a variety of styles including a 16th century English
anthem to a contemporary setting of William Blake’s poem "The Lamb" by English composer John
Tavener and a newly-commissioned African-American spiritual by Stacy Gibbs, "In His Care-O".  

Secular pieces will include "Tunggare" by Australian composer Stephen Leek and an arrangement
of the English folk song "I Love My Love" by Gustav Holst.
Mark Munson directs the 30-voice chorus.  
A freewill offering will be taken to help defray the expenses of the choir.
