North Baltimore still a Tree City
NORTH BALTIMORE — The village of North Baltimore was recently recognized as a Tree City USA during an
awards ceremony hosted by the city of Toledo and the Urban Forestry Commission. This is the 20th time
the village has been given the award.
The community was recognized for its ongoing efforts to maintain and improve the quality of life through
a comprehensive street tree management program.
Human Relations to meet Friday
The Bowling Green Human Relations Commission will hold its May meeting Friday at 8 a.m. in Council
Chambers, 304 N. Church St.
The Commission will resume its regular schedule, meeting on the first Friday of the month at 8 a.m., in
June.
Drunk man arrested for tresspassing
An intoxicated man was arrested early Friday after reportedly trespassing in a woman’s apartment on
Thurstin Avenue.
Bowling Green Police received report of the incident, occurring in the 800 block of Thurstin, just before
3 a.m.
Tyler Keppler, 23, Bowling Green, reportedly entered the apartment and asked the female resident for a
cigarette lighter. She told him to leave and said she would call the police.
Keppler subsequently left and was found by police behind the apartment building. He was arrested and
taken to jail.
Man crashes car in church lot
PERRYSBURG – A man was taken to the hospital Tuesday after his vehicle struck another vehicle, drove over
a sidewalk and struck a fence at a church.
Perrysburg Police report that at 6:49 p.m. George Loomis Jr., Weston, was attempting to park his vehicle
in the parking lot of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 11050 Avenue Road, when he stated
his foot got stuck on the gas pedal. The vehicle then struck a parked, unoccupied van, belonging to
Gregory Grilliot, Perrysburg, drove over the curb and across the sidewalk, and struck a fence and brick
post.
Loomis was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital by Perrysburg EMS for an evaluation.
