On Thursday, the Wolcott House Museum Guild in conjunction with the Maumee Branch of the Lucas County
Library System will present noted historian Fred Folger.
His presentation will be "The History of the Miami and Erie Canal." The slide lecture will
begin at 10 a.m. and is held in the Maumee Library auditorium at 501 E. River Road.
Folger is a retired junior high history teacher who taught for 31 years in the Washington Local School
system. He is a Toledo native and a graduate of the University of Toledo.
Folger has eclectic tastes in history and is an authority on a wide range of other subjects: Civil War
stories; General Anthony Wayne; Ohio history; America and its presidents; towns of the Northwest
Territory; and early Maumee Valley history.
The lecture is free and open to the public. No reservations are needed.
