NEWARK, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio man accused of shooting a police officer has been released from the hospital
and charged with assault.
Police say 27-year-old Randall Hutchison led officers on a chase Nov. 5 before he shot at an officer,
hitting him in the arm. Later, police say, Hutchison raised his gun to fire at another officer, and that
officer intentionally ran into him with an SUV.
Hutchison was immediately arrested and taken to court upon his release from the hospital Monday. He had
been in critical condition for weeks.
Hutchison was charged in Licking County Common Pleas Court with one count of felonious assault on a
police officer. The judge placed him on house arrest with electronic monitoring.
No attorney is listed for Hutchison.
The officer who was shot wasn’t seriously hurt.
