Pastor Whatley honored for 10 years of service
On Sunday, there was a capacity congregation at Turning Point United Methodist Church which meets at the
Woodland Mall.
The occasion was a surprise party to recognize 10 years of service to the congregation by Pastor Larry
Whatley.
Former and current members joined with other pastors, former television colleagues along with family and
friends to recognize Whatley. An early video was shown of then weatherman Whatley from his early days,
complete with a time-appropriate Afro haircut.
Jerry Anderson when asked about those early years working with Whatley joked and said he was only in high
school at the time. Whatley was appreciative of those who attended.
