WHITEHOUSE — Perrysburg’s Scott Freeman hit 1 of 2 free throws with 3.4 seconds remaining to provide the
final margin in a 54-53 win over Anthony Wayne on Friday in a Northern Lakes League game.
“We got a couple of big stops in the final 1:20,” said Perrysburg head coach Dave Boyce. “It was a very
well-played second half.”
In the first half, Trevor Hafner had 13 points and five rebounds as Perrysburg took a 35-22 lead at the
break. A big reason for that lead was the performances of Hafner and Connor Jordan in the second quarter
as the duo combined for 15 points and only one turnover on 6-for-7 shooting.
Perrysburg committed four turnovers during a 21⁄2-minute stretch of the third quarter, allowing Anthony
Wayne to trim a 12-point deficit to four with just under two minutes left in the quarter.
“They picked up their defensive intensity and that gave them a lot of confidence on offense,” Boyce said.

Perrysburg closed the third strong, though, as Zach Schrock picked up a steal with less than 30 seconds
left in the quarter and dished to Justin Beer for a six-point lead.
Anthony Wayne scored first in the fourth, but Hafner hit a 3-pointer from the right corner on the next
possession to push the Perrysburg lead to seven. The joy from the Perrysburg crowd was then quickly
squelched by a 7-0 run from Anthony Wayne that tied the game at 46-all with 2:13 remaining.
After a free throw each way, Hafner missed a layup, but Jordan grabbed the offensive board and was
fouled. He made one of two free throws to give Perrysburg the lead.
Following a missed 3-pointer from Anthony Wayne’s Jake Mruzek, Jordan made two more from the line,
followed by three combined free throws from Gus Dimmerling and Quinn Thomas for a six-point lead.
Collin Conrad responded with a 3 to trim the deficit in half, but Freeman made the second of two free
throws to put the game away. Braden Womack’s 3-pointer at the buzzer provided the final points of the
game.
Hafner led all scorers with 20 points, while adding a team-high six rebounds. Jordan added 10 for
Perrysburg (9-2 overall, 4-1 NLL), and Schrock picked up four blocks along with his seven points.
For Anthony Wayne (3-7, 1-4), Mitchell Betts, Mruzek and Conrad all had double figures with 14, 12 and
10, respectively.
“It was a good team effort,” Boyce said. “A lot of guys came off the bench and gave us good minutes when
we needed them. Zach Schrock, for not having a good offensive game, played really well on defense.”
