LIME CITY – Perrysburg Township trustees Wednesday approved contribution of up to $13,780 to Wood
County’s Storm Water Management Program.Administered by the Wood County engineer, it fulfills a requirement
of the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency. Township Administrator Walt Celley said the township could
acquire its own storm water license, but at a significantly higher cost."It just doesn’t make sense. I
don’t think we could do it for anything close to this amount of money," Celley said.The engineer’s
office estimates the program’s cost at $50,000 for 2014, half of which will be paid for by Wood County
commissioners, with Perrysburg, Middleton and Lake townships splitting the rest based on area.Trustees had a
separate discussion about a request from Way Public Library for $6,000 toward the cost of publishing a book
about the history of the Perrysburg area.Trustee Gary Britten said the city contributed $6,000, but the
matter was tabled when trustees did not seem keen on sharing that cost. "I’m afraid the precedent we
might set by doing it," Britten said. "It’s a great idea and it’s got some nice history in it
about some different families in the community, but I would hope they could have some different kind of
fundraiser to get the money for it.""I’m not sure I want to completely write it off, or maybe
there’s some other ways we can help. But it’s just not something that’s part of our core government service
that we provide," said trustee Bob Mack.In other business trustees also approved:• Spending $26,672 for
a new device that can transmit heart readings directly to hospitals, to replace a unit that’s 10 years old,
according to Fire Chief Tom Brice.• A purchase order for fuel for the maintenance department.• Resolutions
to join the Coalition of Large Ohio Urban Townships and institute a new deferred compensation plan for
township employees.
