SYLVANIA – A program titled: "School Finance: Where Are Your Taxes Going?" will be held
on Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Southview High School Theatre, 7225 Sylvania Ave.The presentation is the
inaugural event sponsored by Northwest Ohio Friends of Public Education, a citizen-driven, non-partisan
movement to inform and engage Northwest Ohioans, at the community level, to support and strengthen public
schools. The presentation will feature a panel discussion from local educational leaders from Sylvania,
Perrysburg, Springfield and Washington Local school districts. The topics will include the cost to Ohio
taxpayers for charter and private school vouchers as well as the amount of locally levied tax dollars that
school districts spend each year to comply with unfunded state mandates."As state budget cuts and
requirements force public school districts to levy more and more of their funding locally, it is imperative
that all citizens become involved and educate themselves on the state of school finance in Ohio,"
stated Dan Greenberg, NWOFPE committee member.
