11th Frame: Youth bowling tournaments planned (09-17-13)

Youth bowlers will have a revised series of tournaments available to them with the introduction of
the Northwest Ohio Junior Tournament Bowlers Tour.The season begins with the inaugural event for high school
and college students on Sept. 29 at 10 a.m. Check in will being at 9 a.m. Entry fees are $50 if
pre-registered by Sept. 26. There is a $10 late fee.The first event will be held at River City Bowl-A-Way,
in Napoleon. Subsequent tournaments will be held in Delphos on Oct. 13 and at Al-Mar Lanes Nov. 3. The tour
goes on hiatus until March 30 when action resumes at Bluffton, followed by an April 27 tournament in Lima, a
May 28 event at Seneca Lanes, Fostoria; with the year-end gala in Wapakoneta June 1.In addition to the main
events, there will be five separate tournaments for grade school and junior high students.The schedule for
the younger students has events Nov. 10 in Coldwater; Dec. 15 in New Bremen; Jan. 12 in Lima; Feb. 16 in
Kenton; and the year end event on March 23 in Ottawa. All events start at 10 a.m. at the various dates and
sites. Each tournament will feature a boys and girls division.Unlike many youth tournaments, these events
boast that no expenses are taken out of the entry fee. Of the $50 fee, $15 is applied toward lineage,
including four games of qualifying; three additional games for the top half of the field, and the subsequent
stepladder finals for the top four bowlers. There will be $30 of each entry awarded in scholarships, with
the remaining $5 put toward the year-end tournament.Entry forms are available at most area bowling
centers.The first event will use the World Tournament Bowlers Association’s Paris oil pattern which features

"Learn to Bowl Month" in October, Al-Mar will be offering sessions and classes on learning how to
bowl, and how to bowl better.Three options are available in the combined program including the Have a Ball
Beginners Club, Bowling 2.0; and Bowl Better in Four Weeks. Beginning Oct. 6, participants will receive free
learn to bowl classes followed by 10 weeks of league. The starting date is Oct. 6 at 12:30 p.m. Call the

Sunday’s Northwest Ohio Tournament Bowlers Association event held in Bluffton. Charles Easton won the event,
while Brad Simon finished fourth. No other information was available.League ‘lites: Roger Pierstorff nearly
recorded the first 800 of the season at Al-Mar in the Eagles League on Thursday. He had a set of 268, 267
and 256 for a 791 series.Youth of the Week: Youth bowlers who bowled the most pins over their average in any
