Verlin Lee "Tony" Wagner, 80, of Bloomdale passed away at 8:47 a.m. on Friday, August
30, 2013 at St. Rita’s Mercy Medical Center, Lima. He was born on December 2, 1932 to the late Randal R. and
Eunice E. (Gattshall) Wagner in Dupont, OH. He married Ruth Ann Schmidt on July 3, 1953, and she
survives.Tony is also survived by his sons: Michael L. (Cathy S.) Wagner of Findlay, Bradley L. (Jill D.)
Wagner of Findlay, and Thomas J. (Lisa R.) Wagner of Bowling Green; and grandchildren: Ashley (Jarod)
Helmstetter, Mackenzie L. Wagner, Christine A. Wagner, Emma L. Wagner, Lucy M. Wagner, Maya C. Wagner, Perry
T. Wagner, Benjamin R. Wagner, and Noah L. Wagner.He was preceded in death by his brothers: LaVoid Donald
"Don" (Evelyn) Wagner, Randall R. (Cletus) Wagner, Jr., and Richard A. (Phyllis) Wagner.Tony was a
1950 graduate of Continental High School and a 1955 graduate of The Ohio State University. He worked for the
General Motors Central Foundry Plant in Defiance from 1955-1958. He then became the owner of Wagner’s IGA in
Bloomdale, and then also in Fostoria where he was the 3rd generation grocer. He owned Wagner’s IGA from
1958-1994. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Bloomdale where he served many different
positions. Tony was a 3rd degree Mastor Mason and a 32nd Degree Mason. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge
#571 in North Baltimore for 50 years and a member of the Shrine. He was also a 12-year member of the Elmwood
School Board, Bloomdale Commercial Club, and Bloomdale City Council and Board of Public Affairs. Tony was
also a Little League baseball coach and elementary school basketball coach for his children. He was an avid
Ohio State Buckeye fan and attended many games. He loved traveling to numerous places, especially Hawaii.
Tony enjoyed fishing, hunting and most importantly, his grandchildren.Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00
& 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, where a Masonic
Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 4,
2013 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Jeff Ridenour and Pastor Gary Woodruff officiating. A
private burial will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to the Trinity United
Methodist Church, Bloomdale or the Alzheimer’s Association. Condolences can be sent via
