Customers sickened by noxious spray at store

HOUSTON (AP) — Customers of a Wal-Mart store in Houston havefallen ill after two men sprayed a
noxious substance that led to theevacuation of the building.Deputies with the Harris CountySheriff’s Office
responded Sunday night along with a hazardous-materialsunit. Dozens of employees along with upward of 150
customers weredriven from the store by the unknown substance.Three customerswere taken to a hospital for
treatment and sheriff’s spokeswoman TebbenLewis said Monday their conditions were not known. She says
theirexposure to the chemical is not considered life-threatening.Other customers had trouble breathing and
suffered burning eyes and throats.The two suspects fled and authorities are reviewing surveillance tapes as
