Ohio State’s tobacco ban begins with fall classes

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio State University spokesmansays the all-campus tobacco ban will
begin when classes resume laterthis month — but officials want to give it time to sink in.OhioState
spokesman Gary Lewis Jr. says officials are still fine-tuning theban and figuring out what the penalties
will be. The ban will be ineffect when classes start Aug. 21, but violators won’t start beingpunished
until January.Lewis says the university wants to givepeople a chance to learn about the new initiative.
All of OSU’s campuseswill be 100-percent tobacco free.The Columbus Dispatch (http://bit.ly/16wAXq1 ) reports that nearly 1,200
public and private campuses nationwide havetobacco bans. In Ohio, 16 public and private schools already
