PERRYSBURG – A Findlay man was arrested early Wednesday in a high-speed chase with a state
trooper that began near the city and at times topped more than 140 miles per hour.According to Lt.
Jerrod Savidge, commander of the Bowling Green Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol, at 2:30 a.m. a trooper
was patrolling at the I-75/I-475 split when he encountered a motorcycle, with a passenger on the back,
which had no license plate and no taillight. The trooper attempted to catch the bike, which was soon
traveling at more than 100 miles per hour.The trooper then activated his lights and the vehicle fled
south.The chase at times reached speeds in excess of 140 miles per hour.The bike subsequently exited
I-75 at the Van Buren Exit, and then headed east onto Ohio 613 before turning onto County Road 257 in
Hancock County, near Fostoria.The bike then attempted to turn around at a slow speed, and then went
down.The male driver, identified as Brandon Navarro, 30, Findlay, then fled the scene on foot through a
field, but fell and was Tased and cuffed by the trooper.Navarro’s passenger, Kimberly Shellhorn, 24,
Sycamore, was treated and released for minor injuries at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay.Navarro was
arrested on charges of felony fleeing and eluding, reckless operation, speed, and reasonable control,
and is further facing previous charges of felonious assault and driving under suspension.He is being
held in the Wood County jail on $74,330 bond and was to appear in Wood County Court of Common Pleas
today.
