of license-plate scanningnotes that the scanning policy of the State Highway Patrol in Ohio ismore
protective of privacy than some.The report releasedWednesday found scanners affixed to police cars, bridges
or buildingsaround the country capture license plate images providing records ofpeople’s location and
movement. That information often goes intodatabases that can be reviewed much later.The ACLU says the
Ohiopatrol’s policy calls for rapid deletion of such information if itdoesn’t raise concerns and says it
can’t be collected, stored or sharedwith the intent of mining data.The patrol says it takes precautions to
