In continued efforts to reduce expenses for county operations, Wood County Commissioners James
Carter, Doris Herringshaw and Joel Kuhlman recently merged the duties of the Assistant County Administrator
with the vacant Solid Waste Management District director position.Assistant County Administrator Joe Fawcett
will oversee the operations of the Solid Waste Management District and Wood County Landfill in addition to
his duties managing the county budget and working closely with the county administrator to provide oversight
on projects for commissioners-related departments.The Solid Waste Management District director position was
vacated in December 2012 when Ken Rieman announced his retirement. The commissioners decided not to post the
vacancy due to ongoing discussions at the state level due to possible changes to the law governing solid
waste management districts and consolidation of services.
