Following is a list of Memorial Day programs scheduled around Wood County that have been
reported to the Sentinel-Tribune.BOWLING GREENBowling Green’s Memorial Day Parade leaves the Federal
Building parking lot at South Main and Washington streets at 10:30 Monday.The parade moves north on Main,
turns east on Court Street, makes a stop at the Wood County Courthouse for a brief ceremony and then moves
east to Thurstin Street, north to Ridge Street and then east to Oak Grove Cemetery.Lt. Col. Hien Nguyen, of
the Air Force ROTC Detachment 620 at Bowling Green State University, will deliver the address.Music will be
provided by the Bowling Green High School band.Members of the 14th Ohio Volunteer Infantry and 3rd Arkansas
Civil War re-enactors will provide salutes.BGSU Army ROTC Pershing Rifles will provide the color guard.In
case of rain the program will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the Memorial Building in City Park.BRADNERParade
lineup is 10 a.m. Monday in front of the American Legion Post. Parade marches at 10:30 to Bradner
Cemetery.The guest speaker will be Mike O’Donnell.The fly over this year will feature vintage aircraft.A
potluck at the post will follow. All are invited, bring a dish to share.A service will be held at Wayne
Cemetery at 2 p.m.CUSTARAmerican Legion Post 305 will sponsor a parade Monday starting at 1 p.m.The service
at Milton Cemetery will start at 1:30 p.m.An open house and potluck will follow at the post.DOWLINGMemorial
Day ceremonies will be held at New Belleville Ridge Cemetery, Carter and Dowling roads, in Dowling, Monday
at 9 a.m.FORT MEIGSStaff and volunteers at Fort Meigs will honor the men and women of U.S. armed forces on
Memorial Day.War of 1812 soldiers will provide weapons firing demonstrations and talks throughout the day. A
special wreath laying ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. in front of the monument within the fort. The
ceremony continues with wreath layings at the Pennsylvania and Kentucky monuments.Fort Meigs will be open
from 12 to 5 p.m. Regular admission rates apply and are $8 for adults, $7 for seniors, and $4 for children
(6 to 18 years). Ohio Historical Society members and children 5 and under are free. Veterans get free
admission to the site on Memorial Day.GRAND RAPIDSGrand Rapids will start its Memorial Day Parade at 10:30
a.m. at Pirate’s Park before heading downtown. Rev. Mark Montgomery will speak.Other Memorial Day events
planned by the legion post include laying wreaths at 9 a.m. at Beaver Creek Cemetery with Rev. Scott Carman
speaking, at 9:45 a.m. at Mount Pleasant Cemetery with Rev. Terry Spiess speaking, and at 11:30 a.m. at St.
Patrick’s Cemetery with Father David Tscherne speaking.A noon potluck will be held at Alva N. Sidle American
Legion Post No. 4984.In the event of rain, all outdoor events are canceled and the program will be held at
the legion hall at 10:30 a.m.On Sunday, a service is planned at the Methodist church at 9 a.m.HASKINSThe
Memorial Day Parade will form at Union Hill Cemetery at 8:45 a.m.A flag raising will be conducted by Boy
Scouts from Troop 315, Haskins. The Star-Spangled Banner will also be sung, and a prayer will follow.Music
will be provided by Aura Belleville. Joe Stockner will deliver the Memorial Day address.A rifle salute will
be provided by members of the Lybarger-Grimm American Legion Post 441, Bowling Green.Graves will be
decorated by the Boy Scouts.A benediction will also be delivered.JERRY CITYA parade will kick off the
observance at 10:45 a.m.Units will march to the Jerry City Cemetery for an 11 a.m. program. The speaker will
be Air Force veteran, Staff Sgt. Matthew Herrig. A salute to the Jerry City veterans will be given by Walt
Chambers Jr. Roll call of those interred at Jerry City and Mt. Zion cemeteries, who have served the country
will be by Rose Chambers. Performing will be the Elmwood High School Band. Members Jon Shinew and Madison
Arnold will play taps.In the event of rain, all activities will take place in the Jerry City Village
Hall.LAKE TOWNSHIPLake Township’s ceremony will start with a VFW Post 9963 parade at 9:30 a.m. The ceremony
at the cemetery starts at 10 a.m.LUCKEYThe Luckey American Legion will be presenting the colors at 9:30 a.m.
Pastor Tom Zulick from Dowling Evangelical Church will be the guest speaker.LIBERTY TOWNSHIPA Memorial Day
ceremony will be held Monday at 8:45 a.m. in Rudolph Cemetery.NORTH BALTIMOREA Memorial Day parade will
begin in front of the fire hall at 9 a.m. in the village. The route will proceed to Maplewood
Cemetery.Following the parade, a service will begin at the cemetery. Tom Boltz and Mayor Mike Julien will
both speak.PEMBERVILLEThe Pemberville Memorial Day parade begins at the Town Hall on Monday at 9 a.m.At 10,
following the parade, a service will be held at the Pemberville American Legion Freedom Post 183. Tech. Sgt.
Lewis "Brad" Smith of the 180th Fighter Wing, Air National Guard will be the guest speaker.The
Sons of the American Legion will be sponsoring a chicken barbecue after the program.PERRYSBURGThe Memorial
Day parade will begin at 10 a.m. at Louisiana Avenue and Sixth Street. The parade will proceed north on
Louisiana Avenue, turn left onto West Front Street, and finish at Fort Meigs Cemetery.A ceremony will follow
at the cemetery. The event is organized by American Legion Post 28.St. Rose Parish will hold a Memorial Day
Mass at St. Rose Cemetery at 9 a.m. Monday.ROSSFORDThe Memorial Day parade will step off at 1:30 p.m. from
the Edward Ford Memorial on Dixie Highway, proceeding to Veterans Park where a ceremony with speakers will
be held.SCOTCH RIDGEWreaths will be laid at memorial graves at Webster Township Cemetery at 9 a.m. A rifle
salute will be held by members of American Legion Post 240.TONTOGANYMemorial Day ceremonies will start in
Tontogany Monday at 10 a.m. with a flag raising at American Legion Post 441.Legionnaires will decorate the
marker stones honoring Lybarger, Grimm, Castner, Gault and Benneth by Auxiliary Unit 441.The parade will
start at 10:15 a.m. and end at Tontogany Cemetery.The master of ceremony will be Tom German and the
invocation will be given by Rev. Jon Knitz.A flag retirement ceremony is planned, followed by a community
potluck at the hall.In the event of rain, the program will be held inside the legion hall.
