Falcon golfers tied for fifthNASHPORT, Ohio — The Bowling Green State University men’s golf
team is tied for fifth after the first 36 holes of play at the Mid-American Conference championship.Kent
State is first with a 591 total. Bowling Green and Eastern Michigan are tied at 609 in the nine-team
field. The Falcons had rounds of 310 and 299. The 299 was the lowest total in the second 18 holes.Ryan
Triller led the Falcons with a 3-over par 147, good for a tie for fourth.Other BG scorers were: Charlie
Olson, tied for 16th, 153; Joe Cooper, tied for 23rd, 155; Wes Gates, tied for 28th, 156; and Chris
Melvin, 37th, 161.BGSU softball splits;earns MAC tourney bidKALAMAZOO, Mich. — The Bowling Green State
University softball team split a doubleheader with Western Michigan Friday, but in the process earned a
berth in the Mid-American Conference postseason tournament for the second straight year.The Falcons are
26-20 overall and 9-11 in the MAC after posting a 2-0 win in the opener and then dropping a 4-3 decision
in the second game. BG concludes the regular season with single games at Northern Illinois today and
Sunday.Ericia Stratton had two hits and both RBI in the opener for the Falcons. Jamie Kertes went the
first 6 1/3 innings for the Falcons, allowing six hits and no walks with four strikeouts. Paris Imholz
recorded the final two outs to earn the save.In the second game, Stratton had two hits, including a home
run, and all three RBI. Hannah Fulk earned the 121st walk of her career, tying Hayley Wiemer for first
on the Bowling Green all-time career list.WMU scored twice in the bottom of the seventh inning to record
the win.Falcon baseball rallies for winThe Bowling Green State University baseball team scored twice in
the bottom of the ninth inning to rally for a 5-4 win over Miami. The Falcons are now 21-24 overall and
9-10 in the Mid-American Conference.Miami had scored in the top of the ninth to take a 4-3 lead.Jeremy
Shay’s RBI double tied the game and Logan Walker’s single drove in Shay to win the game.Shay and T.J.
Losby each had three hits and Andrew Kubuski had two hits while Shay, Losby and Patrick Lancaster each
hit a double for the Falcons.The two teams play again today at Sunday starting at 1 p.m. each day.BGSU
athletics communications honoredDALLAS — The Bowling Green State University athletic communications
office has been honored as a “Super 11” sports information department by the Football Writers
Association of America (FWAA). The honor recognizes the schools which were deemed the best 11 in the
NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) during the 2012 season.This marks the fourth year that the FWAA has
announced its “Super 11” field. The other honorees are Baylor, Cincinnati, Georgia, Houston, Minnesota,
Nebraska, Oregon State, Vanderbilt, Virginia and Wyoming. Georgia has been chosen for the fourth
straight year. Nebraska also won the award in 2009, but the rest are first-time winners.Criteria in
determining the winners not only included how press boxes/operations were run, but the quality and
timeliness of information provided, the amount of information presented and appropriately updated on
websites, personal responsiveness to media inquiries as well as the accessibility of players, head and
assistant coaches. The ratings also took into consideration the departments that went the extra mile in
servicing the media.Eastwood boysbasketball camp setLUCKEY — The Eastwood boys youth basketball camp is
June 3-6Grades 1-3 are from 8:30-10:30 a.m.; Grades 4-6 are from 10:30 a.m.-noon; and Grades 7-8 are
from 1-3 p.m.The cost of the camp is $35 and $30 for each additional camper from the same household.

to be honoredCLEVELAND —Jim Harris, a former director of athletics development at Bowling Green State
University, is being inducted into the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics Hall of
Fame next month.A 1971 graduate of BGSU, Harris died of a heart attack in December 2010.He is being
recognized for his work at Alabama-Huntsville, where he became athletics director in 1995.Basketball
shootout plannedTOLEDO — Toledo Central Catholic is hosting a junior varsity and varsity boys basketball
shootout on June 7 and 8.The junior varsity teams will play on June 7 from 3-9 p.m. and the varsity
teams will play on June 8 from 1-9 p.m.Any teams interested in participating in the shootout should

varsity teams and $150 for varsity teams. Teams are guaranteed to play three games, plus a single
elimination tournament. The registration deadline is May 24.Owens baseball winsVINCENNES, Ind. — The
Owens Community College baseball team won twice in the NJCAA Region XII, Sub-Regional tournament Friday
to advance to the championship.Dane Davis pitched a three-hit shutout to help Owens down Vincennes
University, 4-0, in the first game Friday.Davis used only 70 pitches to record the win, striking out one
and walking three.Logan Shullick and A.J. Perez each had two hits and an RBI for Owens.In the second
game, Austin Cowan drove in five runs to power the Express past Cuyahoga CC, 13-7.Cowan and Nick Collins
each had four hits with Collins driving in three runs. Cowan hit three doubles and Collinis hit a
triple.Owens needs to win one game today to advance to the regional tournament.Owens softball splitsThe
Owens Community College softball team earned a split Friday with Lakeland CC, winning the opener 5-2 and
losing the second game 9-8,In the opener Amanda Sinay was 3-for-4, Mareshah Scott for 2-for-3 and Jaylee
Glad was 2-for-3 with two RBI for Owens.In the second game, Lakeland had 18 hits and Owens made three
errors. The Express also had three runners thrown out at home.Emily Rockman was 3-for-4 with two RBI for
Owens while Sinay was 2-for-4 and Scott was 2-for-3.Owens is 21-15 overall and finishes 8-4 in the Ohio
Community College Athletic Conference. The Express is the No. 2 overall seed in the regional tournament
next week in Battle Creek, Mich.
