11th Frame: Al-Mar Lanes hosts adult-child tourney (04-17-13)

Al-Mar Lanes held its annual adult-child tournament on Friday with four teams advancing to the
state finals, and two of those also eligible to compete in the international finals.Adam Iler and his
father, Tony Iler, won the adult-child division; and Kyra Beeker and her father, Shad Beeker, took top
honors in the parent-teen division. The local winners in both those divisions earned advancement to both
finals.Nico Calderon and Bob Desmond won the adult-youth division; with Cailyn Overhulse and Nate
Henschen topping the adult-teen division. Both of these teams can compete in the state
finals.Scholarships will be awarded at the state event which is May 31-June 9. The tournament will be
held at Sequoia Pro Bowl in Columbus. The parent divisions will hold the international finals at Holiday
Lanes, also in Columbus, from July 25-28.The Ilers totaled 1,468 with handicap, 83 pins better than
their nearest challengers Kate and Shane Edwards, who had 1,385. Adam Iler had a high of 193 in his 494
series; while dad opened with a 247 game and 638 series. Third place went to Brendon and Mark Kolkemeyer
at 1,193.In the older division, the Beekers topped their nearest challengers by 136 pins with a 1,491
total. Kyra rolled an excellent 239 game and 618 series; while her dad had a consistent set of
633.Second in the division went to Chloe and Shari Beeker with a 1,356. Kyle and Robb Waynick totaled
1,341 for third.For the younger bowlers in the teen division Nico had a consistent series of 334, with
only eight pins separating his high of 115 from his low of 107. Desmond shot games of 221 and 225 in his
635, as the duo totaled 1,368. Second place went to Kelly Miller and Jacob Wint with a 1,238.In the
final division, Cailyn rolled a 509 series with Henschen adding games of 246 and 225 for 685 as the
doubles team totaled 1,386 with handicap.They edged second-place finishers Anthony Haney and Ryan Green
by 33 pins as the second place team totaled 1,353. Justin Overhulse and his brother, Paul Overhulse shot
1,340 with the younger Justin rolling 225 and 608, while big brother added three 200 games for 636.USBC
awards: Two bowlers last week earned the United States Bowling Congress 11-in-a-row award at Al-Mar
Lanes.Tony Iler, bowling in the American League, achieved the feat Wednesday, as he rolled a 290 game in
his 707 series.The following night, proprietor Bill Wammes matched the game with his 290 for a 724
series and a 936 four-game total in the Randy Miller Memorial Classic.Surviving the game: The final six
bowlers who survived to the finish in Al-Mar’s "Surviving the Game" each bowled over their
average during the final week of the season-long event: Winning by recording 140 pins over her average
was Anna Blair of the Elks League. She earned $300. Last year’s winner of this event, Dee Miller of the
Stadium View Ladies League came up just short of a repeat as she finished second this year as she was 62
pins over average. Miller earned $150.Finishing third through sixth, in order, with pins over on the
final week, league and prize money were: Susan Harris, Stadium View Ladies, 61 pins, $70; Mary Lou
Myers, Ladies Major, 46, $30; Becky Wickard, American League, 27, $25; and Bernie Schneider, Elks, 17,
