Ellen Marie (Shaffer) Neiman, 88, formerly from Youngstown, Ohio, passed away on April 4, 2013 in
Columbus, where she lived for the past 22 years in retirement.Born in Wood County (Cygnet), Ohio, on
December 22, 1924, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, The Rev. George Neiman, her
parents, Elzie J. and Julia (Trudel) Shaffer, and her sister, Bernice Lucille (Shaffer) Gysan.She is
survived by her brother, The Rev. Floyd T. Shaffer, of Saginaw, Michigan; three children, Miriam (Jay)
Morrison of Centerville, Philip (Patty) Neiman of Toledo, and Mary Jane Neiman of Hilliard; five
grandchildren Nathan (Sharon) Morrison of York, SC, Amy (Marc) Fingerhut of Chicago, Adam Neiman and his
fiancé Sharon Hayden of Westerville, Ashley (Ian) Ramous of Cincinnati, and Meredith Neiman-Emmert and her
fiancé Thomas Lopez of Arlington, VA; and five great-grandchildren, Noah, Lindsey, and Molly Morrison, and
James and Jacob Fingerhut; and her caregiver, Laurann Willis.She was a 1944 graduate of Capital University.
A Lutheran Pastor’s wife of 66 years, she actively supported her husband’s ministry of two American Lutheran
Church congregations – Zion Lutheran Church in Woodland, Michigan, for 11 years, and St. Paul’s Lutheran
Church in Youngstown for 33 years.A Celebration of Life service officiated by The Rev. Steve Watchman will
be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2001 Northwest Blvd., Columbus, OH 43212, on Sunday, April 7 at 3
p.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Holy Trinity. Interment will be at
Fish Cemetery in New Rochester, Ohio, at a later date.Arrangements are being handled by WEIR-AREND FUNERAL
