PORT CLINTON, Ohio (AP) — One northern Ohio town’s annual New Year’s Eve celebration will be getting more
attention than usual.
Organizers say CBS’ "Late Show with David Letterman" plans to show a bit of Port Clinton’s
walleye drop festivities.
Since 1996, folks in the town along Lake Erie have been dropping a giant Fiberglas fish from a crane to
welcome the new year.
A local radio station official tells the News-Herald newspaper in Port Clinton (http://ohne.ws/WKiulg ) that the Letterman show
wants to feature some of the most unusual New Year’s Eve celebrations.
About 5,000 people show up each year in crowd downtown Port Clinton to watch the 600-pound fiberglass
fish drop at midnight.
