Brittany Dunn joins family business

Upon the completion of her apprenticeship in October 2013, Brittany Dunn will be a
fully licensed funeral director and embalmer and will join her family’s business
in Bowling Green.
She is a 2006 graduate of Bowling Green High School and attended Oakland University
and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education degree in 2010. She
then went on to the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, the same school her
Uncle Stephen and father Timothy graduated from. Brittany Dunn graduated cum
laude this year.
Her grandfather, Donald E. Dunn, started in the Dunn Funeral Home in Bowling Green in
1950 and he retired in 1988.
Brittany Dunn played four years of division I volleyball for the Oakland University
Golden Grizzlies where she served as captain her junior and senior year. She
earned Summit League Defensive Player of the Year, first team All-Summit league
honors, and was voted by her coaches and teammates the team’s most valuable
player as a senior. She was on both the Academic Excellence List for Oakland
University Athletics and The Summit-League All-Academic Team from 2006-2010.
She was the recipient of The Hollie L. Lepley award her senior year. This is the most
prestigious award handed out by the Department of Athletics at Oakland
University. The award is given to one male and one female student-athlete who
have accomplished the highest athletic achievement, academic achievement and
community service.
She is a longtime volunteer for the Bowling Green Pee Wee League and the Adult
Softball Program at Bowling Green Carter Park. She spent many years working at
Dunn’s Kiddie Kare, where she still enjoys going back to volunteer. She is a
member of the Bowling Green BNI chapter, BGSU Falcon Club and Bobcat Booster
Club.
She is the daughter of Timothy and Maryellen Dunn.
