Folksingers entertain at Way Library
PERRYSBURG – The folk music program "Singing the Good Old Songs Again" will
be held at Way Public Library on Friday at 7 p.m.
Jackie Davidson, formerly of the New Christy Minstrels, and singer and songwriter
Gary Brandt will take the audience on a tour of American folk music. They will
be joined for part of the concert by Toledo area performer Eddie Boggs.
Nationally known performers who present concerts across the United States, Jackie and
Gary performed last summer at the library, giving the audience a chance to hear
and sing folk tunes written and performed by Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie, Pete
Seeger, Peter Paul and Mary, the Kingston Trio and others.
German choir to sing in BG & at cathedral
The Chamber Choir of the Liszt School of Music of Weimar, Germany will visit the area
and present to performances.
The choir will perform Sunday at 3 p.m. as the opening event in the Cathedral Concert
series at Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral, 2535 Collingwood
Blvd.
The chamber choir will then perform "Sing Unto the Lord a New Song" Sept.
29 at 8 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church of Bowling Green. The program of
sacred choral music ranging from J.S. Bach to Eric Whitacre.
Singers to pay tribute to late vocalist Russo
TOLEDO – Singers Kelly Broadway and Ramona Collins will be among the area jazz
personalities who will pay homage to the late vocalist Mary Ann Russo Saturday
at 8 p.m.at the Valentine Theatre.
Toledo School for the Arts’ annual Songs for Our Sister will also feature Russo’s
daughter, Lisa Young as well as Joel Zmuda, Kim Buehler, Lori Lefevre, Ellie
Martin, Sixth Edition and the Toledo Jazz Orchestra.
Songs for Our Sister supports TSA students through the funding of vocal jazz lessons,
a graduation scholarship and tuition to the New York Voices Summer Camp at
Bowling Green State University. Tickets are $32, $27 and $22. Call (419)

German jazz at Robinwood
TOLEDO – Music by the contrabass clarinet and accordion duo of German musicians Chris
Heenan and Jonas Kocher will be heard Friday at the Robinwood Concert House,
2564 Robinwood Ave.
UT exhibits’ them ‘Reclaim & Collaborate’
TOLEDO – The University of Toledo Department of Art will host two exhibits that
explore the theme of "Reclaim & Collaborate" at the University
of Toledo Center for the Visual Arts, 620 Grove Place, next to the Toledo Museum
of Art.
"Universal Future," an exhibit created through the collaboration of M12, an
artist collective, and UT faculty and students will be presented in the Center
for the Visual Arts Main Gallery, opening Friday and continuing through Oct. 14.

"Harvest: Michigan’s Urban Agriculture," a photographic display from artist
Daniel Farnum will be shown in the CVA Clement Gallery Friday through October
21.
The opening reception for these exhibits will be held Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. .

BG potter at fest
ADRIAN, Mich. – Bowling Green potter C. Corky Dunsmore will be among the more than 80
exhibitors showing and selling their work at the sixth annual Art-A-Licious
festival, which takes place Friday and Saturday in Adrian, Mich.
Bowling Green State University graduate, she apprenticed with Edith Franklin. A
graduate of. she launched her career as a full-time artist. Her work features
functional and raku ware with hand-carved trees in 2010.
Festival hours are 4 to 10 p.m. Sept. 21 and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sept. 22.
Michigan comic on tap
Michigan comedian Jason Hagle will headline Comedy Night Tuesday at 9 p.m. at Grumpy
Dave’s, 104 S. Main St., Bowling Green.
Dan Currie is the featured act.
Tickets are $5 and $3 for students.
Hepcats on Maumee
TOLEDO – Jazz on the Maumee continues with a performance by Hepcat Revival Sept. 26
from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Aqua Lounge, 444 N Summit St.
Tickets are $15, and $10 for members of the Toledo Art Tatum Jazz Society.
Ballet hosting ball
TOLEDO – Toledo Ballet will hold its annual scholarship event, Blue Moon Ball, Oct. 6
at the Toledo Club.
The event will feature food, live usic and a deejay and a quiet auction.
A mask competition will also be held and Michael Lang, of Toledo Ballet, will teach
partygoers the "Thriller" dance.
