CLEVELAND (AP) — The U.S. Coast Guard says crews have stayed busy with the Dragon
Boat race on Lake Erie.
The
Guard’s station at Cleveland Harbor reported making rescues Saturday,
including after a boat that was in the race capsized with 20 people
aboard. The Coast Guard says all 20 people were wearing life jackets,
and that 17 of them were able to swim safely to shore after the 11:30
a.m. capsizing.
The three people picked up by a rescue boat were treated on shore and released.
A
little over an hour later, the Coast Guard responded to the report of a
boat beginning to sink after striking a break wall in the harbor. Two
people were picked up and their boat was towed.
There were no injuries reported.
