Northwest Ohio Educational Technology is a partner in Connect Ohio’s statewide Every Citizen Online free
basic computer and Internet training program, offering training for any interested adult. Through this
collaborative effort, Ohioans are learning basic computer and Internet skills that are vital in many
jobs.
Marathon Special Products is one partner organization that serves as a NWOET training site, offering
training sessions for interested employees. Through an employee survey conducted by the company, 35
percent of employees voiced an interest and need for learning computer basics. The company has already
trained more than 50 of its employees through the program and continues to hold training regularly.
"If I ever need to learn more for a machine that I have to operate, I figured it wouldn’t hurt to
see if I can learn some more (about computers), so then it might be easier," said Timothy Moore,
ECO participant and Marathon Special Products employee. "I figure it will be best to learn all I
can."
The six-hour digital literacy program includes curriculum on computer basics, an introduction to the
Internet and e-mail, and an overview of the many benefits of using the Internet. Upon completion of the
training, participants are eligible to receive discounts toward computer purchases.
The ECO program is being offered to the public at five additional locations in Wood County.
Interested persons can register for classes by calling NWOET at 1-800-966-9638.
Classes are scheduled at:
• Pemberville Public Library on Sept. 7, 13 and 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• Stony Ridge Library, Sept. 7, 13 and 20 from 1 to 3 p.m.
• At Good Shepherd (Fostoria), NWOET (Bowling Green) and Wayne Public Library, dates and times to be
determined.
More than 24,000 adults have already participated in the ECO training since it launched. The training is
open to any Ohio adult and is being offered at nearly 300 locations throughout the state. A full list of
training locations can be found at http://connectohio.org/training-facilities or by calling
