Miscellaneous projects earn state fair honors

Based on their 4-H products numerous Wood County youth advanced to the Ohio State Fair.
From each project area, 4-H members from around the state competed and several members received an
Outstanding of the Day. From those Outstanding of the Day winners, a Clock Trophy was awarded to the top
individual for each project.
Lydia Tressel of the Dowling Stitch, Stir & Stock 4-H Club earned the only "Clock
Trophy" this year for Wood County. She earned the award for her, "How Does Your Garden
Grow" project.
Those earning "Outstanding of the Day" honors were:
• Ashley Brickner, Buckeye Guys & Gals, for "You’re the Chef"
• Sara Caris, Beaver Creek Boosters for "Growing in Communities"
• Susan Johnson, Colorful Clovers for "Science Fun with Flight" She also was selected as an
Aerospace National Qualifier as the alternate to attend the National 4-H Engineering Competition at
Purdue University.
• Jennifer Lang, Dowling Stitch, Stir & Stock for "Adventures with your Camera"
• Blake McGilvery, Weston Ridge Runners for "Beekeeping, Jr."
• Keira Miller, Lucky Charms for "Racing the Clock to Awesome Meals"
• Braeden Murphy, Tontogany Four Leaf Clovers for "Magic of Electricity"
• Marcus Van Vorhis, Livestock Unlimited for "Measuring Up"
Earning a "Superior" award was:
• Keira Miller, Lucky Charms for her Self-Determined, Junior project.
