ECONOMY, Ind. (AP) — State police acting on a tip say they
found more than 100 well-watered and pampered marijuana plants in rural
eastern Indiana.
State troopers found the plants Friday growing
along the edge of a wooded area and in a cornfield near the Wayne County
town of Economy about 50 miles east of Indianapolis. No arrests have
been made in the case.
Master Trooper Pete Cates tells the Palladium-Item (http://pinews.co/T9GiM2 ) the plants were "in
good condition considering the severe drought conditions, meaning someone put a lot of work into
them."
He says the plants had been trimmed and were close to harvest and would have had an estimated street
value of about $100,000.
The plants were among hundreds of others found this week by troopers searching the state for marijuana
plots.
