Coast Guard rescues three from boat in Lake Erie

CLEVELAND (AP) — The U.S. Coast Guard says it rescued three people whose boat became swamped in Lake
Erie.
The
Coast Guard said it happened Sunday off the coast of Geneva State Park,
northeast of Cleveland. The three boaters from Willoughby were said to
be in good condition when plucked from the water.
Coast Guard
Station Ashtabula was notified by a 911 call at about 11:30 a.m. that a
pleasure craft was taking on water about a mile offshore. A 33-foot
rescue boat was immediately launched.
Rescuers found the people in
the water near their boat, all wearing life jackets. They were a
61-year-old man, his 34-year-old daughter and the woman’s 6-year-old
son. Their names were not released.
