Owens Community College has free safe teen driving programArea teens ages 15 to 20,
with a valid driver’s license or driving permit, are invited to attend a free
Honda Teen Defensive Driving Program titled “Key to Safe Teen Driving” at Owens
Community College, Tuesday and Wednesday.The free two-day class is at the Center
for Emergency Preparedness’ emergency vehicle operations and driving course on
Tracy Road in Perrysburg Township.There are offer four separate sessions each
day at 9 a.m., 10:45 a.m., 1:15 p.m. and 3 p.m. and include a classroom session
and hands-on drills involving wet-braking, skid control and emergency lane
change maneuvers.Participants must have a valid driver’s license or permit, show

continues its weekly drama club on Monday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at St. Mark’s
Lutheran Church, 315 S. College.HYT makes learning the basics of blocking fun
for junior drama club participants (ages 6-11). Learn the secrets of stage
blocking and how to always be seen by the audience.Senior drama club students
(ages 12-18) will study Chekov Technique. This is a workshop on a movement not
usually taught to actors until the college level.The cost is $5 per student. For

kids.“Make a Splash,” exploring water-based media and techniques, is Tuesday

grades four through seven.“Art Games,” focusing on Nevleson Hide and Seek,
Pollock painting and edible Van Gogh, is July 31 and Aug. 1-2 and for grades one
through three.Becky Laabs is teaching all the classes, which are $70 each. The

healthy campArea middle school students can learn about healthy living as Owens
Community College has the first-ever “Gotta Have Heart” educational outreach
program, Monday through June 28.The educational program will take place from 10
a.m. to 3 p.m. each day in several locations, including Health Technologies
Hall, the Math/Science Center, Alumni Hall and the Center for Emergency
Preparedness. The college is located on Oregon Road in Perrysburg Township.There
will be eight different themed activities, including medical terminology, heart
anatomy, heart physiology, medical sonography, nutrition, exercise science, CPR
and dental hygiene. Several speakers from Owens will do presentations in
conjunction with hands-on laboratory sessions.
