DETROIT (AP) — The nonprofit group Friends of the Rouge is holding its annual Rouge
Rescue event.
The
aim of Saturday’s effort is to help clean, restore, enhance and
celebrate the Rouge River, and events are planned throughout the
watershed in southeast Michigan.
Hundreds of volunteers are expected for the event. A number of groups are involved in
the effort.
Among
the sites is Detroit’s Rouge Park, with the work organized in part by
Friends of Rouge Park. Restoration is planned in a prairie that was
burned to eliminate invasive plants.
