Elmwood’s Brittany George and Rossford’s Margo Jackson were named the Northern Buckeye Conference
softball co-players of the year, highlighting the All-NBC selections.
Eastwood’s Whitney Foster, along with Woodmore’s Madeline Phillips, were named the co-pitchers of the
year.
The voting was conducted by the league’s coaches.
This is the third consecutive season George, a shortstop, has earned first-team all-league honors. She
earned first-team in the Suburban Lakes League the last two seasons. This was the first year of
competition in the NBC.
Jackson, a catcher, was a first-team All-Northern Lakes League pick last season. This was the first year
for Rossford competing in the NBC.
Joining George, Jackson, Foster, and Phillips on the first team are Eastwood’s Courtney Rolf (first
base), Jessica Young (second base), Cassidy Rolf (third base), and Ally Gabel (outfield). The Eagles won
the NBC title outright this season.
Rounding out the first team are: Elmwood’s Sierra Beckford (outfield) and Whitney Striff (utility), and
Rossford’s Abby Stahl (outfield).
Striff and Beckford are repeat first-team picks.

Eastwood — Hannah Hirzel, shortstop; Elmwood — Miranda Benschoter, pitcher; Tori Hillard, catcher; and
Katie Bottesch, utility; Fostoria — Ashley Robert, outfield; Genoa — Katie Jensen, second base; Brynn
Skilliter, outfield; and Mackenzie Hoyles, utility; Lake — Kayla Encalado, shortstop; Megan Schnell,
third base; and Hallie Adair, outfield; Otsego — Kylie Asmus, pitcher; Rossford — Kelly Swope, first
base; Woodmore — Brittany Mondrago, outfield.
The following players from Wood County schools earned honorable mention:
