At this year’s National Day of Prayer in Wood County, Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn noted how despite all our
diversity, all faiths believe in one God. He said," Remember, we are one nation with one God."
The God of the Christian Bible is the one true God and the American Constitution protects all religions.
While Wasylyshyn is a top notch sheriff and his intentions to unite us may have been good, Christianity
and Islam are diametrically opposed and do not worship the same God. The Koran denies the triune God of
the Bible and denies that Jesus is the Son of God. These disagreements make anything Christians share
with Muslims in common meaningless. This attempt to blend the two religions into "Chrislam" is
leading both Muslims and Christians astray from the true gospel. Naive Christians are being led into a
false belief that Allah and YHWH are one and the same God; Muslims are being denied the opportunity to
be confronted with the fact that Jesus is not a prophet-but is God, who became flesh and dwelt among us,
as the unblemished Lamb that died as a sin sacrifice and rose from the dead.
Mohammad taught his followers that if they believe that Jesus is the Son of God that they would go to
hell. The Bible teaches the opposite: "He that believeth on Him (Jesus) is not condemned; but he
that believeth not is condemned already." The goal of Islam is world domination and would
substitute our Constitution with Sharia Law. The nature of politics is to try and please everybody, but
the sheriff has cheapened the Gospel and what Christ accomplished at the cross by trying to blend Islam
and Christianity together. Instead, let’s embrace discipleship with Jesus Christ and heed Jesus’ warning
not to water down the Gospel message, "Fear not man, but Fear God". The Apostle Paul warned,
"But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other Gospel unto you than that which we have
preached unto you, let him be accursed!" Let’s pray that all people will hear, repent and believe
the glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ, the only way of attaining peace with the one true God!
