Zoo’s Tembo Trail to open
TOLEDO – Tembo Trail, the Zoo’s innovative new elephant exhibit, opens Friday. The celebration lasts
through Sunday.
All weekend long, visitors will enjoy fun family activities and live entertainment, along with keeper
talks and animal training demos that show how the zoo blends extraordinary visitor experiences with
extraordinary animal care.
In addition to the zoo’s four elephants, Tembo Trail will feature lions, rhinos, hippos, meerkats,
crocodile and African spotted-necked otters (a new species for the zoo), plus naked mole rats back on
public display for the first time since 2008.
Walk for Wildlife is June 9
WHITEHOUSE – Nature’s Nursery, a nonprofit wildlife rehabilitation and conservation education
organization, will host its 4th annual "Walk For Wildlife: Get Closer" on June 9 at the Blue
Creek Conservation Area, 7790 Schadel Road, Whitehouse. Registration begins at 9 a.m., followed by the
walk at 10 a.m.
Participants will walk a one-mile course, stopping along the way for ongoing programs and activities at
education stations.
Health Fair Wed. at Fostoria
FOSTORIA – ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital and Fostoria Area Health Ministry will host the 10th
annual Healthy, Wealthy and Wise Health Fair Wednesday from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Stacy’s Place, 625 Plaza
Drive, Fostoria.
Free screenings will be available to participants and include blood pressure, blood sugar, body fat
analysis, bone density, skin damage, osteoporosis/bone density and a diabetic foot screen.
A cholesterol/stroke screen will be offered for a $10 fee.
A colorectal cancer screening kit will be given away to participants as well.
The health fair features an educational program series in the meeting room at Stacy’s Place:
• 10:15 a.m. – Meeting Your Healthcare Needs Community Health Services
• 10:45 a.m. – Keeping Your Pet Healthy, Timothy Stacy, DVM, Tri-County Veterinary Clinic
• 11:15 a.m. – Medicare Pitfalls Russ Dunmire, Medical Cost Care
• 12:15 p.m. – Social Security: More than Meets the Eye … Preparing for Retirement.
