Marie L. Gerke, age 91, of Pemberville, OH, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2012 at Otterbein-Portage
Valley Retirement Village, Pemberville, OH.
She was born on March 1, 1920 in Portage, OH to Charles and Mary (Epke) Aufdencamp. Marie married Paul C.
Gerke on October 19, 1940 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Rochester, OH and he preceded
her in death on July 13, 1989.
Marie worked at Bowling Green State University for nine years as a cook and retired in 1981.
Her memberships included: St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rebecca Circle of the Church and the
Forks Farm Bureau Council. In her spare time she enjoyed taking bus trips and traveling to Germany to
learn family history.
Marie is survived by her children: Donald (Susan) Gerke of Pemberville, OH, Edward (Diann) Gerke of
Curtice, OH, Frederick (Norma) Gerke of Oregon, OH, Thomas Gerke of Columbus, OH, Ruth Gerke of
Columbus, OH, Kenneth (Linda) Gerke of Columbus, OH, 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren and 1
great great grandson,
brother: William (Joan) Aufdencamp of Perrysburg, OH.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Paul, sisters: Josephine Bockbrader, Frieda Walters,
Pauline Siek, Mildred Bockbrader, brothers: Ernest, Henry and Richard Aufdencamp.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, January 15, 2012
from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Marsh Funeral Home, 4094 St. Rt. 105
Pemberville, OH. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, January 16, 2012 at 11 AM from St. Paul’s
Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Rochester, OH with additional visitation from 10 AM until services.
Officiating will be Rev. Andrew Wilson. Interment will be in Fish Cemetery, New Rochester, OH. There
will be a bereavement luncheon served at the church immediately following the cemetery committal
services.
Considerations for memorial contributions are: St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or
Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
