PEMBERVILLE – A new studio for massage and reiki has opened up in the village.
Peaceful Body and Mind, 210 Cedar St., is owned by two village residents, Michelle Hesselbart and Julie
Hessel.
"It was something we both felt very driven to do," Hesselbart said. "Life is hard as it is
and sometimes we need to take the time to slow down."
The studio offers massage therapy and reiki, a technique designed to relieve chronic pain, reduce stress
and fatigue, and enhance energy.
A reiki session lasts between 45 minutes and an hour and costs $45. An hour-long massage is $55. The
studio is offering a holiday special if you buy one service, you get that same service half-off.
Hessel has been practicing massage therapy for about a year.
"I have become a therapist to help people feel the best that they possibly can mentally and
physically, Hessel said.
She has seen clients with medical issues, high-stress and anxiety as well as those recovering from broken
bones.
"A lot of it is just tension release," she said.
Hesselbart started practicing reiki in 2008.
"It was suggested to me to learn to help me with healing," Hesselbart said. "It helped
heal me and I like being able to use it with other people."
She has seen hospice patients, people with severe injuries, as well as those suffering from anxiety and
high levels of stress.
The studio also offers tumble stones, similar to healing stones. It will soon offer motivational books
and CDS, and foot detoxification.
The foot detoxification involves a sea salt bath and "it pulls all of the toxins out of your
feet," Hessel said.
Hours are by appointment only. For a massage, call Hessel at (419) 575-3030. For a reiki session, call
Hesselbart at (419) 356-0149.
