Students in the Clay
Club at Perrysburg Junior High School work on bowls for Saturday’s Empty Bowl Project.

Several area schools and universities have joined many local artists and area restaurants to help feed
families in the community.
The Empty Bowls Project of Northwest Ohio has partnered with Bowling Green State University’s Clay Club,
University of Toledo’s Ceramics Department, Bowling Green High School Clay Club, Perrysburg Junior High
Clay Club, The Seagate Food Bank of Northwest Ohio and The Shops at Fallen Timbers to host an Empty
Bowls fundraising event on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the former Sbarro Pizza across from Rave
Cinemas at The Shops at Fallen Timbers in Maumee.
The one day event is an open community fundraising event in which attendees make a $20 donation and then
select a one-of-a-kind handcrafted bowl. After selecting a bowl, the donator will be able to enjoy a
light meal of soup from one of several local restaurants.
To date, the restaurants that have committed to the event include PF Chang’s, Granite City Food and
Brewery, Abuelos, Mancy’s and Degage Jazz Cafe.
Once the meal is complete, the attendee keeps the hand-made bowl as a reminder of the empty bowls the
donator has helped to fill.
The money raised by this event will be donated to the Seagate Food Bank of Northwest Ohio to be used in
local programs that will ensure that families in need will receive food during the holiday season and
the cold winter months.
