Master gardeners will be at the fair

The Wood County Fair is an excellent time for gardeners.
Aside from the standard floral displays and the lush decorative areas presented by area greenhouses and
nurseries, the Home and Garden World Building, formerly known as Women’s World, will feature an
information station staffed by volunteers of the Wood County Master Gardener program.
The master gardeners will be on hand the first six days of the fair to answer any gardening questions
fairgoers may have.
According to Lisa Cook, assistant for the master gardener program through the OSU Extension office,
gardeners can feel free to bring in samples of garden pests or diseases which may need to be identified
or diagnosed.
If the gardener does not have the knowledge in their head, they will have access to the latest
information.
Brochures and information sheets will also be available to help both the novice and experienced gardener.

There will be soil testing kits available for a small fee.
The Wood County Fair opens Tuesday and runs through Aug. 9
The master gardeners will set up shop in the Home and Garden World building, with volunteers available
from 5 to 9 p.m. on the opening day of the fair Tuesday. Volunteers will be on hand from noon to 9 p.m.
Wednesday through Friday of fair week. On Aug. 6-7, the Saturday and Sunday of fair week, there will be
volunteers from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., their last days.
