The Junior Fair Board met July 14 and on Thursday in preparation for the Wood County Fair. At the July 14
meeting, members reviewed specific livestock committee responsibilities, such as announcing livestock
shows and weigh-ins.
Members also signed up to work shifts in the Junior Fair Office and reviewed the tasks that needed to be
completed at the workday held last Saturday.
Furthermore, a dance committee was established at this meeting in order to help plan and set up for the
Junior Fair Dance that will be held on Aug. 5, at the fair.
Members reviewed their general responsibilities while at the fair, and livestock committee
superintendents went over their specific tasks, as well. Junior fair board members then broke into
livestock committees to discuss setting up livestock barns, and to make pen tags that are used to assign
pens to animal exhibitors.
On Thursday the Junior Fair Board met with their senior counterparts at the Junior Fair Building. The
livestock sale was discussed at this meeting, and then junior and senior livestock committees met to
finalize all plans for each species of livestock at the fair.
Junior fair board members are currently planning to have workdays today and July 30 to finish fair
preparations. Also, all members of the board are preparing to be a part of the 2011 Wood County Fair
from Aug. 2-8, and are excited to host an event that the entire community will be able to enjoy.
