LUCKEY – President Lila James opened the July 6 meeting with 16 members present.
Dues will be due soon in the amount of $20 for seniors and $4 for juniors.
Awards distributed: Kathleen Shaffer — certificates of merit and achievement for her Americanism
program, and Shirley Davis a bar indicating she had donated 100 hours at the VA Clinic. Rosemarie
Heilman received a certificate of merit for the best prayer book. District I dedicated it to the
department president. Education Chairman Eloise Brinker received two certificates and Elaine Moenter
received one for sending in membership totaling 90 percent; and Betty Meyer one for public relations.

Davis invited anyone to remove the faded poppies from the graves at the cemetery.
Buckeye Boy and Girls State delegates potluck and reports were July 12.
Karen Snyder, chairman; Betty Briggs and Ellen Bechstein audited the treasurer’s books.
Feeding low income families in Eastwood distict with a free meal each month, was brought up by Kate
Shaffer, who attended a meeting of the churches involved. Zion Lutheran Church will have the July meal;
Faith Methodist, the August meal; and the Baptist church the September meal. Each church is willing to
pay $63 for hall rental.
Lila James and Heilman attended the convention and reported membership in Ohio is in first place. The
Department voted to raise dues $5 in 2012, then another 50 cents every three years. This has to pass at
national convention before it is adopted.
A memorial service was held for deceased members Dee Hannan, Mary Louise Fries and Martha Knitz.
