PERRYSBURG – Local resident Diane France has been crowned state Mother of the Year by the Ohio Federation
of Mothers of Twins Club (OFMOTC).
She was awarded the title June 25 during the statewide federation’s annual convention in Dayton. France
was one of 13 mothers vying for the Ohio crown.
She and the other 12 women had been nominated by the various mothers of twins clubs throughout Ohio.
France was crowned Mother of the Year by the Toledo Mothers of Twins Club (TMOTC) back in December.
"I am truly grateful and humbled to receive this honor out of such a deserving group of women,"
France said following the state convention. "Their personal stories touched my heart and were
certainly a source of inspiration."
She offered "a heartfelt thank you to the Toledo Mothers of Twins Club for nominating me and sharing
this extraordinary moment."
Diane and her husband, Steve France, have 9-year-old triplets, including daughters Macy and Melissa and
son Michael.
She has been a member of TMOTC for five years, where she has held the offices of president, first vice
president and president/advisor and numerous chairmanships. She has served on many committees and is the
hotline support for Triple Talk.
On the state level, France is currently OFMOTC’s jewelry chairman. She also worked as a sub-committee
chairman for the 2010 NOMOTC Convention. France obtained speakers, prepared baskets for raffles, and
secured donations for the national convention held in Toledo in August of 2010.
"Anyone who has had the opportunity to get to know Diane knows that she is a very caring and
thoughtful person who thinks of others before herself" said Julie Overy, president of the Toledo
club.  "She is such a valuable person to be in our club."
Diane France volunteers regularly at Fort Meigs Elementary in Perrysburg, where her triplets are
enrolled. She assists with parties and events in three classrooms there. She is also a member of the
Fort Meigs Parent Boosters and volunteers at various events throughout the year.
In the community, France has participated in multiple Relays for Life, community health fairs, toy and
clothing drives. She and her family personally adopt Christmas family each year.
She also teaches monthly religion classes at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Maumee, where they are
active members, and also volunteers for the Children’s Liturgy of the Word program. While president of
TMOTC, France spoke at the funerals of TMOTC members and personally wrote a prayer for their service.

A native of Fostoria, she holds a degree in nursing from St. Vincent School of Nursing and worked as a
nurse prior to the triplets’ birth.
The Ohio Mother of the Year nomination process is basically the same as the local clubs’. All of the
Mothers of the Year from the local clubs in Ohio were submitted to the OFMOTC Mother of the Year
committee for judging.
TMOTC Mother of the Year is chosen through a nominating committee process. Members are encouraged to
nominate mothers based on several criteria established by the Ohio federation including being active in
the home, the club and within civic organizations, a good mother and homemaker, a person of good
character and one who cares for others and demonstrates that through actions.
