PERRYSBURG —The Town Center at Levis Commons will host the first
Sand-Tastic! Summer Festival Thursday through Saturday. The boulevard
will be transformed into a beach with sand carving, water fun, a luau
and more.
“Sand-Tastic! will offer fun for people of all ages. Kids will love the
giant sandbox and inflatables, while adults can unwind at Bar Louie’s
Luau,” said Casey Pogan, marketing director for Hill Partners Inc. “The
festival also showcases the talents of one of our area’s most
accomplished sculptors, and lets amateurs try their hand at sand carving
too.”
Throughout the three-day festival, sculptor Chad Hartson and his team
from Ice Creations will build three 8-ton sand sculptures on the
boulevard. A community sandbox will also be open with shovels, pails and
all the tools necessary to create a masterpiece.
Daily demonstrations by Hartson and his team will teach attendees how to sculpt like a professional.
On all three days, from noon to 8 p.m., sculpting team will turn piles
of sand into works of art, plus people may play in the oversized
community sandbox. And each day from 1 to 1:45 p.m., sculpting
demonstrations for hands-on learning will be given.
The following additional activities are scheduled for Saturday:
• 12 to 6 p.m. – Inflatables including an obstacle course and slide,
face painting, water fun, bubble foam and other family activities.
• 2 to 3 p.m. – Amateur sculpting contest (a winner will be crowned at 4 p.m.)
• 12 to 4 p.m. – A disc jockey will be setting the stage with beach music.
• 4 to 6 p.m. – Steel drum band from the Toledo School for the Arts.
